R(alph) the Prior and the Convent of Durham have given, granted, and made firm by this present charter to Adam of Edington and his heirs [16] acres of land in the territory of Coldingham with a third part of the toft and croft of David of Quixwood in the villa of Coldingham, the land and toft and croft which the said David of Quixwood gave to them of his land that he held of them in the villa of Coldingham in exchange for his former land that he had in the villa of Oldcambus; the lands are specified in detail; to Adam and his heirs to have and to hold freely and quietly, peacefully, wholly and with honour, without any secular service, custom, exaction, army service, aid and demand, rendering annually thereupon to Durham Cathedral Priory, towards the fabric of the church of Coldingham, 6d. at Pentecost in return for all service.
