Ness of London has granted and by this his present charter established to Holyrood Abbey the mill of [East] Linton (ELO), which Ness his predecessor gave the canons and by his charter established, and easements of the Tyne Water and the house (messuage) assigned to them, in pure and perpetual alms, in all ecclesiastical liberty, saving the multure of his own mills. None of his own [men] may grind at the canons’ mill, without licence from the canons’ miller.
