Description (from People of Medieval Scotland)

Eustace of Vescy has granted, and by this his present charter made firm, to God and St Mary at Melrose and the monks serving God there all the alms and lands which they had and held in his feu in the year after Alexander, son of the lord William, king of Scots, made his homage to John, king of England, on the morrow of the Invention of the Holy Cross, in free, pure and perpetual alms; that is, all the land which they held in the territory of Whitton (ROX) from the donation of Patrick of Ryedale as well as from the gift of Robert of Barnoldby; and from the gift of Geoffrey son of Waltheof of Lillesleaf, as set out in their charters and is witnessed by their original instruments; and all the alms which they had in the territory of Mow (ROX) from the gift of Anselm of Whitton, as his charter testifies, and all the land which they had in the territory of Primside (ROX) by the agreement made by the King of Scotland between the house of Melrose and the house of Kelso as the confirmation of the lord King testifies concerning the same land.
