Master William of Greenlaw, son of Roland son of William, has given and granted, and by his charter established, to Melrose Abbey three ploughgates of land which he has in the territory of the villa of Hassington (BWK), that is, those which Lady Matilda, mother of Sir Robert de Muschamp gave to William, son of John of Hownam with Gilia, her daughter, in free marriage; to hold in free, pure and perpetual alms without secular service.
