Petronilla, daughter of Adam Herring of ‘Meinichoch’ has granted and made firm by this his present charter to Saint Mary, Saint Benedict and the porter of Melrose, for the sustenance of the poor arriving there, that toft in the villa of Borthwick (MLO) near the house of Hugh Selleck and those two acres of land and that half acre of meadow in the territory of Borthwick which he, by his will, gave to Robert ‘Poydras’ for his homage and service, and additionally that return which Robert has been accustomed to render to her, viz. she absolved [payment] of one pair of white gloves [made] by Robert and his heirs.
