Bertram the prior and the convent of the church of Durham have given, granted, and made firm by this their charter, to Ralph son of Godwin, in return for his homage and service, 2 oxgangs of land in their villa of Coldingham with toft and croft in the same villa, that is, the 2 oxgangs that Arnold the prior of Coldingham bought from David of Quixwood; to Ralph and his heirs to be held of the prior and convent of Durham and their successors; with 10 silver shillings to be rendered thereupon yearly on Palm Sunday, to be made at the command of the monks of Coldingham; non payment is to incur a fine of one besant or 2 s.; with aid to the prior of Coldingham as pertains to 2 oxgangs in the same villa; with the king's forinsec service to be performed; and they grant and confirm to Ralph and his heirs one toft with croft that the said Ralph son of Godwin bought from Ralph the prior and the convent of Coldingham, with 12d. to be rendered thereupon yearly, to be held and had in perpetual possession.
