Charter: DCA DCD Misc. Ch. 5948
Description (from People of Medieval Scotland)
Robert son of Reginald of Great Reston has truly come to know by many proofs that he and his ancestors should have had in the territory of Great Reston only one ploughgate of land, that is, 105 acres. He therefore makes known that he has resigned and restored by rod and by staff in the court of his lord the prior of Coldingham to the Prior and monks of Durham at Coldingham all the lands that he or his predecessors have unjustly occupied beyond one ploughgate in the territory of Great Reston: 7 acres in 'Iluingishope', 18.5 acres in 'Langelandis', 12.5 acres in 'Mers', the whole land of 'Alaynescastel' in return for 2 acres, 2 acres in 'Bilielawe', 8 acres in the plain called Swinwood on the south side of the Eye.
