Walter son of Alan has granted and by this his charter established to Melrose Abbey, in free, pure and perpetual alms, that part of the land of his forest on the southern part of the Ayr (AYR) which his late father gave to Alan Small, lay brother of Melrose, for his service, by stated bounds. He granted this whole land to the monks in perpetual alms, from all service, secular exaction and custom, save his forest in beasts and sheep, and Walter and his heirs will acquit the monks from all forinsec service owed to the lord king.
