B[ertram] prior of Durham, at the petition of Ralph prior of Coldingham, and with the consent and will of his brethren at Coldingham, has given, granted, and made firm by this his present charter to Humphrey of Raperlaw, in return for his homage and service, the half-ploughgate of land at Coldingham which David son of Liulf of Paxton gave to the house of Coldingham in return for half a silver mark per annum; to him and his sons or heirs to whom he wishes to give in feu and heritage, free and quit from all service, custom and exaction; with half a mark to be rendered yearly, half at the Nativity of John the Baptist and half at the feast of St Martin.
