Roger Burnard has given, granted and by this his charter established to Melrose Abbey 13 acres of his land and one perch in the territory of Fairnington (ROX), that is, that which lies nearest the land of Simon of ‘Farburne’, on the eastern side, under the royal road which goes to Roxburgh, in pure, free and perpetual alms, free and quit from all exaction, custom and demand.
