Patrick of Ryedale has granted and by this his charter established to Melrose Abbey, for his soul and all the souls of his ancestors and successors, the donation of Robert of Barnoldby of 20 acres of land, namely 'Rauenesfen' (near Whitton, ROX) which he made to the church in free alms from those two ploughgates of land which Robert and his heirs hold from him and his heirs in the territory of Whitton which has been given to him for his service in feu and inheritance, save his service which Robert and his heirs made to him and his heirs for the same land.
