Geoffrey son of Watheof of Lilliesleaf has given, granted and by this charter established to Melrose Abbey, in free, pure and perpetual alms, three oxgangs of arable land in the territory of Whitton (ROX) as they lie in a tenement above ‘Rauenesfen’ near the land of the monks which they have from the donation of Patrick of Ryedale, his lord, free and quit from all terrestrial service, custom and secular exaction. He and his heirs will acquit them from all forensic service.
