Patrick of Ryedale has granted and by this his charter established to Melrose Abbey the donation of Geoffrey son of Waltheof of Lillesleaf which he made to the church and monks of three oxgangs of arable land in the territory of Whitton (ROX), in free, pure and perpetual alms, as they lie in a tenement above ‘Rauenesfen’ near the land of ‘Heuiside’ which they had by his donation, free, quit and unbound from all terrestrial service, custom and secular exaction, save the serve [owed] to him and his heirs by Geoffrey and his heirs from the same land.
