Geoffrey son of Waltheof of Lillesleaf has given, granted and by his charter established to Melrose Abbey, in free, pure and perpetual alms, four oxgangs of arable land in territory of Whitton (ROX) as they lie in a tenement above ‘Rauenesfen’ near the land of the monks which they have from the donation of Patrick of Ryedale, his lord, free, quit and unbound from all terrestrial service, custom, and secular exaction. He and his heirs will acquit them from all forensic service.
