John son of Waltheof has granted and made firm by this his present charter to Melrose Abbey all the donations, conventions and concessions which John of Methil made to them in respect of the land of Penshiel (ELO) with all its pertinents, to be held and had in perpetuity from John of Methil and his heirs following the tenor of the charters which the monks have from John relating to the land, save the service of him and his heirs.
