Margaret de Vescy has granted and by her charter made firm, for the salvation of herself and all her ancestors and successors, to Melrose Abbey that donation of land and pasture which Patrick of Ryedale made to them in the territory of Lilliesleaf (ROX) as the charter of Patrick and the confirmation of Walter, his son and heir, testify, by the same bounds which are contained in the charter of Patrick and the confirmation of William, his son, in free, pure and perpetual alms, with all its easements and liberties, without any custom and secular exaction, save to him and his heirs […] pertaining to the land of Patrick of Ryedale and his heirs.
