Margaret de Vescy has granted and made firm by this her charter to Melrose Abbey, for the salvation of herself and all her ancestors and successors, one ploughgate of land in the territory of Lilliesleaf (ROX), namely that which Walter of Ryedale son of Patrick gave to them with all the easements and liberties and by the same bounds which are contained in the charter of Walter, in free, pure and perpetual alms, without any custom and secular exaction, save to her and heir heirs the service pertained to the land from Walter of Ryedale and his heirs.
