Description (from People of Medieval Scotland)
An agreement is formed between Prior Bertram and the convent of Durham and Edward of Oldcambus and his sons, whereby Edward and his sons make an agreement that they will abjure and quitclaim to the prior and monks the _villa_ of Oldcambus and its mill for Greater Lumsdaine which the prior and monks gave in exchange and for 107 marks which Edward paid to the king of Scots for forfeiture. Edward and his heirs are to hold the villa of Greater Lumsdaine, with one toft and 3 acres in Coldingham in feu and heritage for 16s. yearly, 8s. at the feast of St John, and 8s. at Martinmas, and performing as much forinsec service and corrody to the king as pertains to a quarter part of a whole villa, and common service. They shall also have the mill of the villa with multure of his men. If the prior cannot warrant the land, he shall grant an exchange elsewhere.
