Charter: DCA DCD Misc. Ch. 714
Description (from People of Medieval Scotland)
William de Vaux has given and granted and made firm by this present charter to Saint Cuthbert at Durham and the holy monks there one toft in Gullane (ELO), to wit, the toft that lies next to the croft of St John of Jerusalem's hospital towards the north, and one perch of land that Udard the fisherman held, and the north side of 'Windgthates'. He also wills that Osmund of Gullane and his heirs should hold that said toft and perch of land and side freely and quietly and with honour just as any alms are freely and quietly held or possessed in the whole kingdom of Scotland, with 4 pence to be rendered annually at the feast of St Michael for all service.
