Richard son of Henry Cissor of Durham, with the consent of Bertram of Little Reston, his lord, has sold, quitclaimed, and having sworn on holy relics has entirely abjured for himself and his heirs to the lord Richard the prior, and the convent of Coldingham, in respect of a half-ploughgate of land in the territory and in the villa of Little Reston, which he had and held of the said Bertram, and which his antecessors held of the antecessors of the said Bertram, in return for a certain sum of money that the said prior has paid him in his great need; the prior and convent of COldingham and their successors to have and hold for ever, freely, quietly, and honourably, making all forinsec service that pertains to the king and to the prior of Coldingham insofar as it pertains to to a half-ploughgate of land in the same villa; rendering thereupon yearly to the said Bertram and his heirs 2 shillings only in return for everything that can be exacted etc.
