Roger Burnard has given, granted and by this his charter established to Melrose Abbey, for the welfare of the souls of his lords Kings David, Malcolm and William, in free, pure and perpetual alms, a certain part of his peatary in the territory of Fairnington (ROX), which he perambulated with many responsible men, by stated bounds, with right of free transit.
