Alan son of Walter, steward of the king of Scots, has quitclaimed all his claim and whatever right he had or was able to have in the pasture on the western part of the Leader (ROX) and by this his charter has confirmed to Melrose Abbey [the aforesaid], in the court of his lord, William, king of Scots, and in the presence of him, in free, pure and perpetual alms, for the souls of his lords, David and Malcolm, kings of Scots, and Earl Henry and all their heirs and successors and for the salvation of his lord William, king of Scots, and himself and his wife and for the soul of Walter son of Alan, his father. (damaged)
