Walter Corbet (junior) son of the daughter of Gilbert de Umfraville has given, granted, and by this his present charter established to Melrose Abbey, for the salvation of his lord, William, king of Scots, and Alexander, his son, and for the souls of all their ancestors and successors, and for the soul of his grandfather, Gilbert de Umfraville and the souls of his father and mother, and for the salvation of himself and all his ancestors and successors, in free, pure and perpetual alms, a certain part of his land in the territory of Clifton (ROX) by stated bounds which he perambulated, free and quit from all service, custom and secular exaction.
