King Alexander II for Melrose Abbey; has granted that all their lands between Gala and Leader Waters, and all their other lands on south bank of the Tweed (i.e. Eildon and Darnick in Melrose) adjoining lands of Lessuden (St Boswells, ROX) and those of monks of Kelso Abbey, may be held in free forest. No one is to fell timber, hunt, fish or catch birds there without their special permission, or do anything in these lands against their wishes, on pain of king's full forfeiture of £10.
