Grim son of Guy, scribe of Roxburgh, has granted and given to Melrose Abbey, for the salvation of his lord, William de Somerville, and for his soul and for the soul of his father and his mother and all his relatives, the whole toft which his father held in Berwick (BWK) and he held after him, as secured in the charter of William, in pure and perpetual alms, with all its freedoms and pertinents, within the burgh and out of the burgh, save the service of Sir William de Somervile and his heirs which was owed from Grim and his heirs for the same land. (damaged)
