Philip de Valognes, chamberlain of the king of Scots, has granted and by this charter established, for the redemption of the soul of King David and his son, Henry, and for the soul of King Malcolm and for the salvation of his lord, William, king of Scots, and his brother, and for the salvation of his soul and all his relatives, to Melrose Abbey the donation which Osulf made of the land of Ringwood (ROX), free and quit from all terrestrial service, assizes, gelds, aids, and all secular exaction and custom, in perpetual alms, by stated bounds. Additionally, he gives and grants to them the liberty that none of his men nor any other may go within the aforesaid bounds except in specified circumstances (damaged).
