Adam son of Philip of Coldingham has given and granted and made firm by this his present charter to William Carpenter of Coldingham one toft and one croft in the same villa, that is, the toft and croft that Adam son of Gunnild once held in the villa of Coldingham, and one and a half acres of land between Flaxiwelles and Kelloclawe, for him and his heirs to hold and have of Gilbert of Wolveston and Agnes of Prenderguest, his wife, and their heirs by hereditary right, with all liberties and common easements pertaining to the villa of Coldingham; rendering thereupon annually to the said Gilbert of Wolveston and Agnes of Prenderguest his wife, and their heirs, 16 d. at 2 terms, that is, 8 d. at the Nativity of John the Baptist, and 8 d. at the feast of St Martin in Winter, in return for all service, aid, exaction, custom and demands. Adam and his heirs warrant to said toft and croft and one and a half acres to William Carpenter and his heirs against all men and women.
